ACE AWARD - TELEVISION PRODUCTION:
Donovan Creative Communications - EIA - "Stop the Calgary Habit"

FILMBratz Productions proudly received an ACE Award in TV production for the Edmonton International Airport "Stop the Calgary Habit" spot called "Old Lady". Produced by Hans J. Dys and directed by Michael Maxxis, it was shot on the Canon 7D camera with DOP Christopher Walters, art director Karen Jones, sound design by Sync Spot, Calgary. Post production was done at Studio Post, edited by Carey Komadina. Congratulations and special thanks to Donovan Creative Communications owner Michael Donovan, creative director Ernie Burden, writer Ryan Kenny, art director Fiona Farrell and project manager Thanh Van.

Hot Tomali Communications, Inc. - 7-Eleven Canada Inc. - "Slurpee Freeze the Moment"

In the same category, FILMBratz producer Hans J. Dys received an Award of Distinction for a 7-Eleven Canada Inc. spot produced for Vancouver-based Hot Tomali. The commercial was directed by Randy Diplock, DOP was John Spooner, Art Director Karen Jones, sound design KOKO Productions and was edited by Simon Morgan at Lindisfarne. Special thanks to Hot Tomali creative director Thomas Stringham, writer Sebastien Wilcox and account manager Kyle Stewart.

FILMBratz Productions was proud to receive an Award of Distinction for the Alberta Forest Products "Work Wild" recruitment video for Red the Agency. Director/camera was John Spooner, sound design Wave Productions and the editor was Simon Morgan at Lindisfarne. Special thanks to the Red team of creative director Ryan Kelly, associate creative director Dennis Lenarduzzi and account supervisor Angus Gastle.

2010 AWARDS:

Two Years Running – Best Commercial in Alberta

FILMBratz Productions' was honoured with a Rosie Award, at the 36th Annual Alberta Film and Television Awards on Saturday, May 15th. The award recognized FILMBratz Productions for having produced the Best Television Commercial in Alberta, with the production of “3 Minute Drill” – for Edmonton based Red the Agency, creative team of Ryan Kelly and Dennis Lenarduzzi and their client Alberta Emergency and Fire Services. It was the second year in a row that FILMBratz was honoured with producing the Best Television commercial in Alberta.

Directed by Michael Maxxis and lensed by Peter Wunstorf, the commercial features a family barely escaping through a hallway from a burning living room. Shot in a warehouse with sets designed by Myron Hyrak, special effects and pyrotechnics Geoff Bacchus and Maurice Routley, orchestrated under the watchful eye of the Edmonton Fire Department. The commercial was edited by Jed Pelech at Studio Post.

Red the Agency – “3 Minute Drill” commercial
Cream Ice a major winner at Ad Rodeo

FILMBratz Productions' was honoured to have produced the award winning commercial "Cream Ice" for WAX Partnership in Calgary and their client the Eating Disorders Education Organization (EDEO). The rather unusual commercial won 2 Anvil Awards in the Best Public Service/Not for Profit TV and Best of Show categories at Calgary Ad Rodeo. FILMBratz Productions' producer Hans J. Dys worked with Joe Hospadaric, Sebastien Wilcox, Ernie Burden and the Wax team on the project. Jeff August directed, with post being completed at Jump Studios and audio design at GGRP. The commercial was shot in Calgary on the Red camera with DP, Sid Bailey. Check out the commercial.

Spoof goes viral and wins an ACE Award at Edmonton's annual Advertising Club gala In March

In a spoof called "Cannes Zoo Escapade," an all-too-real take-off of an incident that occurred at the Calgary Zoo; FILMBratz Productions' producer Hans J. Dys, director Michael Maxxis, teamed with DDB's creative director Eva Polis, art director John Halliday and writer Krystin Royan to create a promotional piece for the agency in the form of a video invitation for their clients to attend the 2009 Cannes Lions screening in Edmonton. The three minute video was billed as a better way to see the lions. Post production was completed at Studio Post in Edmonton with Jed Pelech, editor. Check out the video.

Advertising Club of Edmonton Awards

FILMBratz Productions produced the television component of the Rexall Indy campaign, which in its entirety won Best of Show for DDB Edmonton, at the annual ACE Awards, presented by the Advertising Club of Edmonton. The Annual Event honours excellence in advertising in the Edmonton market. The Rexall Edmonton Indy commercial was directed by FILMBratz director, Jeff August, who also supervised the entire post production/special effects animation at JUMP Studio in Calgary, which Jeff owns jointly with Brian Vos. Vos shared co-producer duties with Hans J. Dys.

FILMBratz Productions also received a craft award for Television Production for the 30 second Monsanto Canada commercial, called “Frame of Mind,” which LA based director-cameraman Leo Zahn lensed. Hans J. Dys produced the commercial for Winnipeg based, Blacksheep Strategy. The project was shot in Dallas, with post production being completed in Los Angeles and sound design by GGRP Vancouver.

FILMBratz Productions was also honoured with a Rosie Award at the 35th Annual Alberta Film and Television Awards. The award recognized FILMBratz Productions for having produced the Best Television Commercial in Alberta, with its production of the Rexall Edmonton Indy series, directed by Jeff August and co-produced by Hans J. Dys and Brian Vos.
